      Abstract381)      PDF(pc) (7194KB)(73)       Save
Through historical research and analysis of the dissemination process of the ancient Chinese agricultural book The Farming and Weaving Map in Japan. Examining how it spread to Japan through the“ Maritime Silk Road” , and was gradually altered into the form of farming drawing such as“ four-season farming pictures” and“ silkworm Farming and Weaving Pictures”with its own characteristics. Research has found that the process of the transmission of The Farming and Weaving Map to Japan was a fusion of Zen culture and the shogunate culture of the Muromachi period in Japan. The cultural intention of the implied meaning of the technical education and the dissemination of orthodox symbols in the Farming and Weaving Pictures was weakened. The aesthetic function was amplified. By transforming the The Farming and Weaving Map into a Japanese art piece, it connects the power control of Zen temples and shogunates, highlighting the cultural taste of the rulers and achieving cultural change. This transformation not only inherits the symbolic meaning of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature, but also endows Japans farming pictures with a stronger religious connotation in cultural imagery.

      Publishing Journal    2024, 32 (3): 14-.
      Abstract274)      PDF(pc) (5558KB)(112)       Save
The paper provides a concise overview of the introduction of the modern concept of“ publishing” from Japan to our country and compares the differences in this concept across China, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. It dissects the connotation and extension of the“ publishing” concept during three stages of development in China, asserting that the evolution of the concept is a consequence of practical development, exhibiting trends towards industrialization, a reduction in technological emphasis, and an intensification of ideological and cultural attributes. Comparing the connotations of the“ publishing” concept between eastern and western contexts, and grounded in Marxist philosophical thought, the paper argues that a significant characteristic of the contemporary“ publishing” concept is cultural subjectivity, which is evidenced in cultural selection, cultural processing, cultural innovation, and cultural exchange. The editorial phase is identified as the pivotal link in the publishing chain, with editors being the key contributors to cultural subjectivity.

The analysis evaluates the advancements and limitations of the“ research object theory” and“ presupposition theory” in constructing the ontology of digital publishing. Utilizing an integrative theoretical construction method, this study introduces the theoretical framework of“ being-beings” in digital publishing. It discusses the research object and presupposition as two core elements of the ontology of the digital publishing discipline. The research object is identified as the“ beings” of the digital publishing discipline, specifically digital publishing activities. The presupposition is clarified as the“ being” of the digital publishing discipline, which is the original state of“ digital technology-publishing”. This original state encompasses and transforms into various digital publishing behaviors and phenomena, manifested through the digital publishing activities, the“ beings” as the“ sum of behaviors and phenomena”, while it itself remains vague. Furthermore, the study systematically explicates the“ digital technology-publishing” original state through four elements : driving forces, new forms and structures, value creation activities, and publishing development.

      Abstract208)      PDF(pc) (9858KB)(74)       Save
Based on Bronfenbrenner’ s ecological systems theory, this study aims to investigate the relationships between reading and mental health of rural left behind children. Taking psychological resilience as the mental health variable, 160 primary and secondary school students in rural Baiguoshu Village, Enshi, participated in the study with field questionnaires. Comprehensively involving the hierarchical structure of the growth ecological systems of leftbehind children, this study explores how family and social support systems( such as schools and neighborhoods) collaboratively influence the relationship between reading and psychological resilience of left-behind children. Statistics indicated that high-quality parent-child reading has a positive and significant impact on the psychological resilience of left-behind children in rural areas, which is moderated by the level of general social support received by the left-behind children. Based on the empirical results, countermeasures were further proposed from the perspectives of the family microsystem, school mesosystem, social external system, and government macrosystem, to promote the healthy development through an integrated reading ecosystem for left-behind children.

This paper studies the effect of cultural distance on publication export trade in China on empirical study, by the data of UN Comtrade database and cultural dimension data of Hofstede. It introduced GDP per capita as regulated variable, and explored the regulated effect of economic development level. The research showed that cultural distance increased the transaction cost and uncertainty, and decreased transaction scale, extent and depth, and negatively correlated to the publication export trade. And economic development level positively regulated the relationship of cultural distance and publication export trade, which reduced the negative effect of cultural distance to the publication export trade. In the future, we should focus on both cultural and economic factors to implement differentiation strategy of production, export, and promotion on publication export trade in China, according to the different type of countries and areas based on cultural and economic characteristics.

      Lu Mengmeng Zhang Yunqi
      Publishing Journal    2025, 33 (1): 66-75.
      Abstract197)      PDF(pc) (8886KB)(53)       Save
Based on the privacy management theory, this study adopts the in-depth interview method to reveal individuals’ management practices regarding the privacy boundaries of digital reading traces from three progressive levels, namely privacy boundary recognition, privacy boundary coordination, and privacy boundary balance. It promotes an understanding of the dynamic relationship between individual reading behaviors and social reading interactions in the digital reading era. The study finds that privacy boundary recognition is mainly identified according to three types: users’ privacy sensitivity, the affordance of platform technologies, and the social publicity of reading. Privacy boundary coordination is negotiated through the degree of relationship, the attributes of traces, and the principle of reciprocity. On this basis, the study reflects on the hidden concerns caused by the out-of-control coordination of digital reading traces privacy boundaries and proposes optimized paths such as the privacy boundary management mechanism under the refined segmentation of social relationships, the deidentification-based classification and dilution mechanism for digital reading traces, and the multi-level negotiation mechanism for the visibility degree of digital reading traces.

      Abstract196)      PDF(pc) (7168KB)(49)       Save
This paper selects 226 propaganda slogans from domestic provincial“ National Reading” theme activities over the past decade and employs discourse analysis to examine the consensus mobilization strategy of these slogans. At the textual analysis level, the“ National Reading” slogans diversify the construction of the theme by emphasizing clearly defined topics such as city image, policy orientation, family customs, personal cultivation, current affairs hot spots, and cohesive means of correlation and interaction, as well as the transitivity of verb guidance. At the level of discourse practice, we further investigate the underlying power dynamics of the slogans, revealing that power serves functions such as informing and guiding, while coherence manifests in forms such as rhyme and parallelism, with intertextuality employing techniques including quotations and allusions. Finally, at the level of social practice, it analyzes the slogan“ National Reading” from macro, meso, and micro perspectives, demonstrating that it is rooted in grand mainstream consciousness and transformed into individual orientation by fostering a social atmosphere conducive to“ National Reading”.

      Abstract196)      PDF(pc) (8293KB)(74)       Save
The article selectes 23 publishing institutions from the top 70 in the Journal Citation Reports database of Web of Science and analyzes their artificial intelligence(AI)publishing ethics policies. In terms of the author’ s use of AI,publishing institutions have mainly standardized the authorship, AI usage boundaries and disclosure forms. Publishing institutions have reached a consensus on the issue of AI identity. That is, AI cannot become a coauthor. Publishing institutions allow the use of AI in research and writing, but require authors’ responsibility and full disclosure. Currently only a few institutions(26.1%) have clearly defined the boundaries of authors’ AI usage, and there are differences among institutions on how to disclose them. Regarding the policy on the use of AI by reviewers, due to confidentiality requirements, institutions generally do not allow reviewers to upload manuscripts to AI tools that cannot guarantee security. However, there is still room for improvement on how to disclose and punish violations of AI usage policies. In response to the above issues, it is suggested that publishing institutions collaborate with academic communities and management departments from the perspectives of ethics, technology and law, as well as collaborative governance, to jointly develop ethical standards for AI applications in academic publishing, in order to create a healthy academic ecosystem.

      Publishing Journal    2024, 32 (5): 55-.
      Abstract178)      PDF(pc) (7698KB)(60)       Save
Based on the perspective of policy tools, a systematic analysis is conducted on the policy texts of nationwide reading in China. After sorting out their basic information, the policy texts of nationwide reading are divided into X-Y-Z dimensions and cross analyzed. It has been found that the current choices of policy tools for universal reading are becoming more diversified, but the allocation of policy combinations still lacks systematicity; the theme of national reading policy tools presents comprehensiveness, but the application of policy structure is still unbalanced and reasonable; the participation of public reading policy tools is constantly diversified, but the coordination of policy entities still needs to be strengthened. Therefore, it is necessary to optimize the structure of public reading policy tools and improve the policy application system; strengthen the coordination of the main body of the national reading policy and enhance the operability of the policy; enrich the elements of national reading policy content and promote policy orientation and inclusiveness.
