Abstract:

As a unique model of running journals, the “Students-run journals” model is
beneficial to innovate the ideas of running journals and promote the development of academic
journals. Taking Harvard Law Review,
Yale Law Journal, and Stanford Law Review as examples,
we studied their appointment and division of editors based on specialization, column set, and
the soliciting and reviewing of contributions. The results show that the main characteristics of
the “Students-run journals” model include being led by students, independent operation, tight
organization, complete system, and democracy. When adopting the “Students-run journals”
model, it is necessary to establish a rigorous selection mechanism of student editors, clarify
the work division of student editors, standardize the requirements of soliciting manuscripts of
journals, improve the system of reviewing manuscripts of journals, realize the union of journals
run by students, and develop the characteristics of journals.
