Research on the Real Dilemma, Cause Mechanisms and Action Paths of Improving
Digital Reading Literacy for Rural Children from the Perspective of Social Support:
A Case Study of Jiashan County, Zhejiang Province

Abstract:

With the development of digital media, new reading modes continuously deconstruct
the traditional literary reading system, making it easier for rural children with insufficient cognitive
abilities to fall into superficial and entertaining reading. In the context of weak overall digital
reading awareness among rural residents, it is particularly critical to cultivate digital literacy
among rural children. This study takes rural children in Jiashan County, Zhejiang Province as
the research object and adopts social support theory as the guiding principle, using ethnographic
methods, questionnaire surveys, and statistical analysis methods to summarize the development
status of digital reading literacy among rural children. Then, this study proposes action paths
to improve digital reading literacy for rural children from two levels of formal and informal social
support.
