Abstract: Based on the perspective of Marxist labor value theory, with narrative materials from 52 excellent academic journal editors as the main focus, supplemented by some questionnaire surveys and interview data, it was found that the role identification anxiety of simple labor in the perspective of others before practice, the role construction anxiety of highly hidden labor experience after practice and the worry of role conflicts between practitioners who are forced to engage in cross professional activities due to deviation from labor value judgment standards, are“ barriers” in the development of academic journal editors, so the one-sided understanding of labor nature and labor value judgment are the source of these worries. The article puts forward countermeasures and suggestions in different aspects like clarifying the nature of labor for academic journal editors, guiding them to determine career development directions, and enhancing their sense of organizational support.
