Abstract:

Using case study and content analysis method，taking The Lancet，JAMA，

Chinese Medical Journal as examples，the authors tried to understand the status and laws of

scientific visualization design of medical journals in China and foreign countries. They found

that during the COVID-19 period，domestic and foreign medical journals emphasized data

visualization and emphasized the concrete expression of visual design. Foreign medical journals

have more diversified forms of visualization，more practical experience in the design and

popularization of medical knowledge than domestic medical journals. Domestic medical journals

should pay attention to scientific visual design，improve the aesthetics of visual design，and

explore a variety of scientific visual expressions. The authors and journal offices can strengthen

cooperation with professional designers or design departments to improve the visual design

capabilities of journals. The integration of new technologies such as AR and VR in scientific

visual design should also be explored.
