Abstract:
Japan’s digital publishing industry is in a leading position, only second to America’s. Japan’s digital publishing laws try to adapt to the digitalization trends and to promote the cultural industry’s development, meanwhile they have characteristics such as updating the copyright system and synchronizing with WCT and WPPT; government intervention in compensation and compulsory license systems; coordinated adjustment of copyright laws with international treaties and other laws. Besides, Japanese digital publishing laws present tendencies as follows: strengthening the protection of copyright owners; giving rational consideration to public interests; attaching great importance to property rights and confirming the legal status of the presses.
