Reform and Practice of Undergraduate Education Majored in Editing and
Publishing Science in China under the Background of New Liberal Arts

Abstract:

The Chinese undergraduate education majored in Editing and Publishing Science
needs to be further optimized guided by the concept of New Liberal Arts. The undergraduate
education majored in Editing and Publishing Science in China is short of the ability of leading,
serving and governing at present. We should take the historical opportunity of building cultural soft
power and the opportunity of the Ministry of Education’s promotion to develop New Liberal Arts. In
order to promote the reform of undergraduate education majored in Editing and Publishing Science,
several steps are included: restructure the training model and adhere to value leadership, pay
attention to modern technology and consolidate digital publishing, optimize the curriculum system
and build branded courses, emphasize the integration of disciplines and plan for cutting-edge fields,
comprehensively integrate resources and create a publishing education service community. On
this basis, this paper take the course reform of “Introduction of Editing and Publishing Science” in
Nanjing University as an example to provide practical experience of Editing and Publishing Science
education in the construction of New Liberal Arts.
