Abstract:

The Works of Li Po ： the Chinese Poet is the first poetry anthology of Li Bai in

English， translated by a Japanese scholar Shigeyoshi Obata and published in 1922. This

anthology is composed of 124 poems of Li Bai and an introduction of Li Bai’s life and his poetry

achievements. For the past 100 years， this anthology has been published for more than

twenty times in the United States of America， Britain， Japan and other countries， gaining

an unbelievable success in the history of publication of Chinese classics in the West. This

anthology can provide inspirations for publication of Chinese classics in the West.
