The International Commodity Trade Competitiveness of Books Published in the Mainland China from 2000 to 2011

Abstract:

Focusing on export and import performance, using trade competitiveness as the indicator and the data from GAPP, this paper studies the international commodity trade competitiveness of books published in the mainland China from 2000 to 2011, and finds that books published in the mainland China, whose international commodity trade competitiveness and the status in international division of trade and production are different in nature from those of manufactured goods, especially of other miscellaneous products, made in the mainland China, among which books belong in the classification standard of export and import commodity, are good with poor competitiveness, showing less manifest disadvantage in competition; that the trade competitiveness of books tended to decrease from 2000 to 2011; and that the percentage of the decrease in trade competitiveness of books is the same as that of other miscellaneous products roughly at country level.
