Abstract:

Charles Dickens， as an important writer with worldwide influence， has a wealth of

journal editing and publishing experience. In the process of editing and starting the publication， he

always adhered to the editorial purpose of social criticism， including focusing on the establishment

of the purpose of running the journal， the main composition of the author group and the selection

of manuscripts; and on this basis， he emphasized the awareness of readers， and formulated

corresponding strategies for the object-oriented of different types of publications， so as to

meet and even lead the needs of readers; at the same time， with the rigorous attitude of strictly

selecting and printing， he guaranteed the quality of publications from the aspects of sticking to

the bottom line of morality， respecting facts and paying attention to proofreading and printing.

These editing thoughts has not only had a great positive effect on his literary creation and the

improvement of social influence， but also has certain reference and enlightenment significance for

the current editing and publishing industry.
