Abstract:

The Covid-19 pandemic has gravely damaged the global publishing industry, with that
of Japan included. Yet Japanese publishing industry has achieved economic and social benefits
by highlighting public spirit, pursuing pandemic-related topics, voluntary shutdowns, free access,
media expanding and integration, situation designing and extending, so as to co-create value with
audience. Delving into Japanese publishers’ anti-pandemic approaches, worthwhile references and
instances can be cited for dealing with similar crises.
