Research on the Development Pathways of AI Products Empowered by Data Technology: A Case Study of Elsevier Academic Publishing Group

Abstract:

This study systematically analyzes the practices and trends of Elsevier Academic Publishing Group in leveraging data technologies to enable AI applications and product development. The analysis reveals a three-phase implementation framework. First, establishing robust data management foundations, Elsevier employs advanced data science technologies to organize, manage, analyze and utilize vast scientific literature data, constructing a “data house” for users, thereby laying a solid data foundation for technology-driven innovation. Second, by comprehensively applying data science technologies and AI technologies, Elsevier utilizes data technologies such as ontologies and knowledge graphs to empower AI applications and product development, facilitating the transformation from data to actionable knowledge and wisdom. Third, targeting key challenges in specialized domains, Elsevier develops knowledge production and analytical decision-making AI products based on domain-specific data platforms and advanced AI technologies, realizing the empowerment of data technology for AI product development. Through analyzing Elsevier’ s practical logic and action pathway of empowering AI technology utilization and product development via high-quality data management, thisstudy provides valuable references for the digital-intelligent transformation practices of academic publishing institutions in China.
