Review and Prospect of Moral Education Textbook Construction for Junior Middle
School in the Past 70 Years

Abstract:

Reviewing the history of Chinese moral education textbook construction in junior middle
school in the past 70 years, we have experienced three stages : basing on unity, moving from
unity to diversity, and returning to unity again. We have gained experience in construction of junior
middle school moral education textbook : the leadership of the Party and the state is the fundamental
guarantee ;competence cultivation is the goal orientation ;reform and innovation are valid methods ;
the moral education textbook with Chinese characteristics is the result ; compiling team is manpower
support. In the new period, the “set out again”direction of the construction of junior middle school
moral education textbook can be focused on the following aspects : the goal integrating national
ideology and subject core competences ;the textbook content which is consistent with unity and
appropriateness ; a unified textbook system of horizontal convergence and vertical integration ;
textbook compilation strategy combining theory research with practice exploration ;the research
orientation with multiple dialogues and keeping characteristics in harmony.
