Abstract: Based on 258 texts of editors’ professional discourse, this paper, with the help of the grounded theoretical framework in George Rykoff’ s CMT and the manual annotation method provided by MIPVU, conducts a metaphorical analysis of editors’ daily discourse, revealing that the conceptual system on which editors’ thoughts and behaviors are based is itself based on metaphors. Editorial metaphors are ubiquitous, existing in editors’ words, rooted in their conceptual systems, and constructing their behavioral patterns in their daily work.
