Modern Civic Education and the Innovative Development of Chinese Original Picture Books

Abstract:

As an important educational method of cultivating modern citizen, the production level of picture books
is not only testing the innovation of artistic skills, but also the civilization level reaching by humanistic education
ideas. Taking collections of picture books from Children’s Section of National Library of China as the resources,
the article adopts the combination of empirical research and theoretical research, observing the gender discipline
and new changes from the aspects of role setting, theme or scene setting, and temperament display. The research
shows that the gender education ideas of original picture books still roots in the normative education of gender binary
opposition rather than subjectivity and inclusiveness which should be reflected in modern civic education.
