Abstract:

The first version of Comments on the Poetry of Cao Zhi by Ding Yan was the Jin-lingPublishing-House（block-printed） edition in 1872. Among the studies of this book, more attention was paid
to the support of Zeng Guofan on its publication. However, the study on the process of its publication was
still rare. Owning to the neglect of hardship of the publication, the contribution made by Gao Junru to this
edition was ignored as well. This study focuses on the process of the publication of Comments on the Poetry
of Cao Zhi from an overall perspective, through which we can have a better understanding of the key role of
Zeng Guofan on this book’s publication and recognize the difficulty of its publication.
