Abstract:
Chinese publishing groups try to seize the advantageous position through importing international children’s book copyrights. However, too much importation has squeezed out the developing space of domestic children’s book industry. This paper tries to crawl domestic and international children’s book data from Dangdang platform and then compares and analyzes sale price, discounts, comment numbers, thumbup comment numbers of Top 500, each percentage of best-selling Top 20, etc. It finds out that the overall performance of domestic children books lose much against international children’s books in Top 500. Although not all international books are of great qualities while the importation children’s book prices are higher than domestic children’s book prices generally. And in the Top 20 all-star children’s books, the number of importing books is much higher than the domestic books. Based on that, it provides three suggestions—proper limitation on importation children’s books, reevaluating domestic children’s book value and strengthening the creation of domestic children’s books.
