Jia Yin Weekly : an Isolated Periodical in the Republic of China

Abstract:

Zhang Shizhao had edited Jia Yin Monthly successfully in 1914—1915. He restarted Jia Yin and
changed it into weekly in 1925. Jia Yin Weekly is a semi-official periodical, and the authors are mainly from
political rather than academic circles. The weekly advocates restoring ancient ways, but it has not set up a
camp of conservative ideology. For the certain problems on the column editing, the rousing suspicion about
the source of funds, the faulty operation and management or other reasons, Jia Yin Weekly is suffering from
a large number of attacks. The weekly is repeatedly forced to stop publication and becomes isolated in the
journalism of the Republic of China.
