Due to the good market for the social science books, many publishers lay emphasis exclusively on increasing sales and publishing speed of this category and neglect selecting translators. As a result, more and more readers complain about the poor translation quality of these books. The author of this article is an editor of over-10-year working experience and he expounds why the translation work is highly challenging and what qualities a good translator is expected to possess.
