Abstract:

By analyzing Chinese characters formation system and its evolution history, we can obtain lots of
design ideas. Modern font design theory mainly originates from ideographic and pictographic, and it focuses on the
following three aspects: ideographs, e.g. the meaning of the characters; recognition, e.g. personalized expression
to distinguish them from others; aesthetic, e.g. the expression of artistic and decorative ideas. The two main approaches
to integrate all of the three properties in font design including pictorial presentation and compositionpresentation.
