Abstract: The Fairy Tales series edited by Sun Yuxiu is a children’ s series published by the Commercial Press in 1908， which pioneered the publication of children’ s books. In editing， he strives to achieve the unity of compilation and rewriting， integrates Chinese and foreign literary materials， creates works suitable for children’ s reading， effectively makes up for the lack of textbooks and traditional reading materials， and explores the path and direction of new people and new culture. Behind the editing of children’ s books， Sun Yuxiu’ s exploration and practice of modern children’ s literature is also carried， which provides possibilities and ideas for the reform of modern children’ s literature.
