过去五年中,电子书给出版业带来了巨大的冲击。虽说数字出版面临着自身独有的挑战,但电子书同时也为出版商创造了纸质书不可能提供的机遇。数字化的生产和分销带来的是比纸质书更为快捷、廉价、多功能的电子书,这使得电子书成为数字时代的最佳实验工具。图书的订阅、捆绑销售、特殊销售以及多媒体应用等则是电子书为出版业开辟新收益的不同途径。

Abstract:

Over the past five years, ebooks have had an enormous impact on the publishing industry. Digital publishing has its own unique challenges, but ebooks also created opportunities for publishers that were never possible with print books. With digital production and distribution, ebooks are faster, cheaper, and more versatile than print, which makes them the perfect tools for experimentation. Book subscriptions, bundling, special sales, and multi-media are just some of the ways in which ebooks can open new roads of revenue for the publishing industry.
