Abstract:

Gilbert H. Grosvenor was the first full-time editor-in-chief of magazine. During
his 55- year career, he established the basic tone of the magazine and made “ photojournalism” as ’ s iconic feature.
This paper describes the editing style， editorial philosophy， business ideas and value orientation of the legendary editor
by summarizing his editorial career and the magazine’s history.
