Abstract:
We selected 24 comprehensive medical and health science journals listed in Chinese Core Journals (2008 edition) for the study. Based on the data of core version of China Science and Technology Journal Citation Reports published between 2006 and 2010 and using a dynamically assessing academic impact model, we analyzed the academic impact of the 24 journals. Results showed that five journals had the assessment score of the relative academic impact ( Ir) above 1, eight journals had the score ranging from 1 to 0.60, and eleven journals had the score below 0.60. It indicated that the proportion of excellent journals was relatively small and that Ir difference between the very poor and the highest-quality ones was very great. We suggest that journals should pay more attention to papers’ academic quality, the amount of source documents, highly cited papers, and increasing the proportion of fund-supported papers.
