Abstract:
The current research on translated Chinese literature mainly focuses on translation, while editorial behavior does not draw enough attention. A probe into the editing procedures in the text/paratext of the English translation of Yu Hua’s works finds three types of editing behavior in the text: editing due to poetics, background knowledge, and editing out of the editor’s preference. Editing of the paratext is mainly reflected in the design of the cover, the title, and binding.
