Abstract:
The first batch of modern press burgeoned in the early 19th century in China, after which a series of new terms were successively applied to indicate the publishing institution, and the old terms ‘Baofang’ and‘ Baofang’ were rarely used. Typically there were‘ Baoguan’ and‘ Baoshe’ among these new terms. According to our research,‘ Baoshe’ had some original characteristics from Japan, meanwhile, ‘JiangBaoShe’ and‘ YueBaoShe’ are called by a joint name‘ Baoshe’ in China. From the end of Qing dynasty to the period of the Republic of China,‘ BaoGuan’ and‘ BaoShe’were almost equal. However, in the 1940s,‘ BaoShe’ tended to displace the former. Eventually, ’BaoGuan’ failed to play a main role in mainland China.
