Abstract: It has been one hundred and two years from the start of the compilation of a Chinese dictionary ci yuan“( Sources of Words”) in 1908. China has experienced historically rare and dramatic changes in these years, and has also been through several revisions in this period of dramatic changes. The research into the features of different editions can show us how deeply the changes of the times can influence the publications.
