Abstract:

This paper investigates the development trends of publishing products trade among countries along “ the Belt and Road” by analyzing trade data from the United Nations Commodity Trade Statistics Database and employs social network analysis, this paper examines the evolution of the publishing trade network and China’ s role within it from 2011 to 2022. The findings reveal that :(1)the publishing trade network along the Belt and Road Initiative is stable and holds significant growth potential;( 2)China wields the greatest influence in this trade network, with key players such as Singapore, Thailand, India and Turkey also holding important positions;( 3)the network exhibits a clear core-periphery structure, with trade concentrated in Southeast Asia and Central and Eastern Europe. China, Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia occupy core positions, generating trade benefits for other nations, while peripheral countries face challenges in advancing their network positions. China encounters several key issues : the untapped potential of trade with countries along the Belt and Road Initiative, insufficient depth in trade cooperation with strategic“bridge” countries, and an imbalanced geographical distribution of publishing trade. To address these challenges, the paper recommends that China : leverage technological advancements to enhance regional resource development, strengthen cultural value identities to better align with the diverse needs of partner countries; and optimize the geographical structure of trade by expanding into new overseas markets through multi-level approaches for sustainable growth.
