Abstract:

The theory that editing came into being during the Spring and Autumn Period can’t be proved due to
its unclear research object and ambiguous criteria. After the invention and use of printing, the writer and the reader
were transformed, and manuscripts were required to have better quality before being printed. Hence editing came into
being. The coming of editing established the transmitting and storing mechanism for intellectual innovation,and promoted
to the greatest extent the development and prosperity of culture.
