Abstract:

The reason for prosperous publishing of history note-books in Ming Dynasty refers to various factors. History
note-books, emerging from the continuation of ways in excerpting and compiling history, is the inevitable result that the
writing way of historiography has trended from complexity to simplicity. With the purpose of ethical education， Ming
government guided and promoted the development of publishing in history note-books by supplementing history textbooks
to the classics. The practical demands of the civil service examinations also stimulated the compilation and publishing of
the history note-books. This kind of books has been widely circulated in Ming Dynasty, especially in the mid and late Ming
Dynasty, as a result of marketization of book production.
