Abstract: This paper explores the multidimensional impacts of new quality productive forces on the career development of scientific journal editors and proposes corresponding pathways. Firstly, it analyzes how, driven by new quality productive forces, the editor’ s role needs to shift from the traditional “information gatekeeper” to a composite “promoter of technological innovation”“facilitator of industrial development”“integrator of cross-disciplinary knowledge” and “leader of industry transformation” . This shift imposes new demands on editors’ knowledge structure, core skills, and thinking paradigms, particularly emphasizing technological application abilities, cross-disciplinary knowledge integration capabilities, and innovative agile thinking. Secondly, based on the needs for role transformation and competency upgrading, a systematic career development path framework is constructed across three interconnected levels: individual, publishing unit, and industry. At the individual level, the focus is on continuous skill enhancement, positive mindset adjustment, and effective network expansion. At the publishing unit level, emphasis is placed on building precise training systems, implementing innovation-oriented performance management reforms, and fostering an organizational culture that nurtures innovation and collaboration. At the industry level, it advocates for establishing highlevel communication platforms, unifying and dynamically updating professional standards, and optimizing resource allocation to support talent growth. The study aims to provide references for individual editor development, institutional talent strategies, and industry policies in the context of new quality productive forces.
