Abstract:

This lecture explores the impact of six forces on business publishing within a knowledge economy. The author
posits that technological innovation is more important to individual consumers whereas editorial expertise is more important to groups. Specifically, business publishing will become important to the knowledge management function within
organizations, the need for this function is growing, and publishers have an opportunity to expand their role from purveyors of products to providers of services of the business world.
