Abstract:

The professional competence in editing is not only special but also basic requirement to be a good
editor. It is constituted by ability of language, major background and information capacity. According to the different
attention the publishing houses have paid to them, the professional competence appears as three models: peg-top model,
spindle model, dumbbell model. To train the professional competence of an editor very well, we should seek and take
some effective measures in the professional education of the editing and publishing science.
