Abstract: Digital communities are beginning to transform the way that books are discovered and sold. By understanding the different types of communities, how to build successful communities, and the behaviors of individuals within particular communities, publishers (and authors) have an opportunity to build successful new business models not based on traditional and threatened retail relationships.
