Economic Effects of Book Publication in China

Abstract:

We use Panel Vector Auto-regression Model and the results show : book publication in the
east has brought about positive impulse effect on the economic growth with the trend of increasing and then
decreasing; the impulse effect in the middle is not obvious and stable; book publication in the west has a
total negative effect on growth. In sum, by taking an absolute leading place, the publication in the east has
contributed to the national economic growth by industries extended and knowledge spillover. Nevertheless,
the pass is through industry channel, instead of communication, so that the increasing publication has only
brought about the development of publication industry, but fails to boost knowledge transfer.
