Research on Paper Output from International Top Journals between in China, Japan, India and
South Korea during 2011—2015 and Their International Ranking

  • Online:2018-01-15 Published:2018-01-15

Abstract:

In order to study the situation of high-level research articles in China, understand the recent 5
years papers published on Cell, Nature and Science from China, Japan, India and South Korea, this paper
obtains the information on the paper output from the four countries in CNS and their situation of international
ranking changes through the Web of Science database. Results indicate that China and Japan are neck and
neck and China has a surpassing trend, the paper output from the two countries are accounted for 80% of
the total four countries’ output, while India and South Korea only accounted for about 20%. China and Japan
have high ranking in international ranking, China has the fastest growth rate on the output in the five years,
India and South Korea keep stable, Japan has the lowest growth. China has obvious growth trend in CNS
output during 2011—2015, of which the correlation coefficient indicates that a positive correlation between
paper output and time. In addition, China has already completely surpassed Japan in 2015 and widen the
difference between them. Now China stands out as the output in CNS in the four countries, but its growth
model maybe come into a new normal state soon. For this reason, two suggestions are given to maintain a
medium-high rate of growth on high-quality papers.
