Abstract:

The two important factors to create books of aesthetic value are the suitable choice of book printing material and exquisite
printing technology. When we complain about a book design is not good enough, we often simply attribute the problem to the layout
design. But many designers have such lessons that the reason of a mediocre design is not all due to the layout design but the designer’
s ignorance of the importance of book material and printing technology. Having no consciousness of material design causes the
inferior and mediocrity of some books. This article tends to discuss the new thinking of book design from the perspective of material language.
