Abstract:

In 2005, the new edition of in 18 volumes was published by the People’
s Literature Press. The editorial quality has been enhanced in many aspects in comparison with the earlier editions of
1958 and 1981, but a major defect remains to be the inconsistent approach to the punctuation system adopted by the editors of different volumes, which often leads to the improper uses of punctuation marks. After concretely exploring the
causes that gave rise to the problems existing in the new edition, this paper offers some suggestions on further improving
the editorial work of .
