Abstract:

Basic principles and steps for several methods of converting Founder files into PDF documents are introduced. Four conversion methods are compared in conversion efficiency, converted file size and quality, and field of application.
The results show that text-based PDF conversion methods including Founder Bookmaker 2008 direct output and MPS-standard PS-PDF are feasible to solve the communication between editors and authors, as well as satisfying the requirements
of digital publishing and web publishing, due to their high efficiencies and good qualities. The research results provide
reference for choosing appropriate conversion method according to the software resources and economic condition, which
will help to promote the process of digitization and networking of the editorial departments.
